Barbara Heck

BARBARA (Heck), Bastian Ruckle was married to Margaret Embury in Ballingrane, Republic of Ireland. The couple had seven children, from which just four survived to adulthood.

The person being investigated is either a key part of a major occasion or has made an extraordinary statement or proposal which has been recorded. Barbara Heck however left no notes or letters, and the evidence for such matters since the day of her wedding is merely secondary. There aren't any primary sources from which one could reconstruct her motivations or her behavior throughout her existence. However, she has become a heroic figure in early North American Methodism history. The biographer has to define the mythology, define the meaning and then describe the person that is revered in.

Abel Stevens a Methodist Historian wrote about this event in 1866. Barbara Heck's humble name now ranks top of the list of women who contributed significantly to the ecclesiastical world in New World history. This was caused by the expansion of Methodism within the United States. This is because the record of Barbara Heck has to be mostly based on her contributions to the great cause, with which her legacy is forever linked. Barbara Heck was involved fortuitously with the beginning of Methodism in the United States and Canada and her fame is based in the natural characteristic of a very effective organization or group to celebrate its origins in order to strengthen its traditionalism and continuity with its past.
